Pointe Shoe Fittings Done Right
Step Up Performance & Dancewear recommends setting up an appointment, so we can focus solely on the fitting with no other distractions. The total time for a fitting takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. You’re always welcome to contact us to set up an appointment.
If for some reason you need to stop in or happen to stop in without an appointment, we will do everything we can to accommodate you at that moment. Also, be sure to wear a convertible tight during the fitting.
WHAT IS A POINTE SHOE?
Pointe shoes are a dance slipper with a thick, reinforced toe to enable the ballet dancer to dance en pointe (on the tips of their toes) for extended periods. They are manufactured in many varieties of colors – most commonly in a light shade of pink.
Every dancer’s foot is unique. Variations include toe length and shape, mechanical strength, and arch flexibility. Therefore, most pointe shoe manufacturers produce several models of shoes, with each model offering a different fit. However, all point shoes have two critical structural features; a box, and a shank, which enable dancers to dance on the tips of their toes.

WHY IS AN APPOINTMENT NEEDED?
At Step Up, we want our dancers to have a great experience. Which means we want to focus strictly on the dancer without any other distractions, and provide the time needed to find the perfect fit. If for some reason our “open” hours do not work for you, we will accommodate a time that does work for you.
